Jim Carrey’s Latest Painting Is A Devastating Vision Of How Sick America Has Become

Jim Carrey’s latest politically charged art piece is both a powerful statement about Trump’s child-separation immigration policy and an appeal to action.

It is the latest in a series of damning critiques of the Trump White House. On Tuesday, Jim Carrey painted the White House as many currently see it: Hell itself. The actor’s caption — a spin on Mark 5:1-20 — references a Biblical tale in which Jesus casts legions of demons from the body of a man who had until that point been under their full control.

Later that afternoon, Carrey tweeted another of his artworks; A satire of Donald Trump’s 1987 memoir/business advice book “The Art of the Deal” which the actor cleverly switched out for “The Art of the Meal” alongside a depiction of a demonic Trump with fanged teeth, ready to shove a baby leg down his gullet.

His caption references Trump’s tactic of holding migrant children hostage in hopes that Democrats allow him to build his wall. “If the Democrats would just stop the Mueller investigation, build a wall, declare me a God and pass a special law allowing me to marry my hot daughter I wouldn’t have to devour these immigrant babies,” reads the caption. “It’s terrible what they’re doing. Obstructionists!”

Today, Carrey’s patience with the Trump administration’s immigration tactics seemed to reach a breaking point. He posted his most recent work of art to Twitter, and it encompasses the sentiment of an entire movement and generation.

In the painting, the Statue of Liberty sits in a chair, bald, and in remission after having been diagnosed with cancer. The cancer in this instance, as Carrey explains in his caption, is the the fact that “40% of the US doesn’t care if Trump deports ppl, kidnaps their babies and uses them as political hostages.”

But not all is lost — the hope of salvation remains, and manifests itself in your vote. “The time for diagnosis is over,” writes the actor-turned-activist. “It’s cancer. Midterms are America’s last chance at remission. REGISTER TO VOTE. We can beat this disease!

As always, Twitter had a lot of reactions.
